ASEAN, Lets Get This Party Started!

While most of the world’s biggest investors are still busy dancing with China, another party has been held in the equator. The music has been played gently in this area and now they are ready to put on some rock and roll to join the party in the global community ballroom.

The party started in 1967 and the founding fathers agreed to name their party with ASEAN (Association of South East Asia Nations). For the next fifty years, as most of the party in this world, there has been always a party crusher like the politic instability, territorial acclaimed, deforestation, or even the worst of all segregation. Thus, they still stand until today and they decide to bring some live to the party.

Today, ASEAN started to look up and be confident in making their own way to run things around. They already ratify the free trade agreement and it is a good omen for the party to continue forward. Good news is that they also take part as the third largest region inhabiting in Asia and with that reputation they are as delicious as the turkey for the investor’s main course.

But before they go international show, the region must concentrate on growing the regional infrastructure. As we have seen before, many of its countries still struggling with their low inter region connectivity and transportation. Due to the seventy percent of its region belongs to archipelago state, ASEAN should focus on bridging the nation with railways, and ferry ships to connect between islands. A great inter region railway system will surely boost the economic fortune to the corner of ballroom party.

Another thing that they mostly forget is to provide enough energy to enhance the speed production of domestic product. Unlike today’s condition where one member still thirsts for lemonade and others are ready to help when they got paid. The party’s members should sit together and build a centralized yet distributable energy system throughout the region. They should build underground cables or sea cables to power up the village. With the overwhelming energy potential from sea power, ASEAN should build the power plant from wave and wind energy to create clean energy for their regions.

Therefore in the next 25 years the region will be well prepared to join the party as one of the world leaders and hopefully by the time they reach their 100th years of party birthday, they already become one of it.
